Working to safeguard Australia’s unique wildlife and their habitats.

  1. Advance Australia beyond the widespread lethal management of apex predators by promoting education and holistic non-lethal strategies for addressing human-wildlife conflict.

  2. Promote the preservation of wildlife habitats across Australia by highlighting key drivers and supporting the development of solutions that benefit rural and remote communities.

  3. We combat conservation greenwashing and advocate for conservation practices centered on ethics, considering the integrity of individual animals' lives.

Why does Defend the Wild exist?

How do we achieve this?

  1. We craft high-impact campaigns to shift public narratives and initiate political response to issues wildlife are facing.

  2. We work with stakeholders on-the-ground to deeply understand issues faced and collaborate on solutions.

  3. We lobby Government to advance solutions that benefit wildlife, habitats and communities.

  4. We work to elevate the voices of Traditional Owners and their ambitions for culturally significant animals and Country.

  5. We seed initiatives that provide practical solutions to human/wildlife conflict.

We believe wildlife and habitat protection requires collaboration and common ground

Defend the Wild engages a diverse range of stakeholders with varying perspectives and backgrounds. We believe that finding common ground among these differing viewpoints brings us closer to effective solutions that benefit wildlife, habitats, and people alike.

Ecological wellbeing encompasses the health of wildlife, our shared environment, and human beings. These elements are inextricably connected, so the solutions we pursue must promote the wellbeing of all three.
